Fearlessly inspiring and connecting people in an inclusive garden environment that creates learning opportunities and enriches lives.
Volunteering at The Alnwick Garden
The Alnwick Garden Trust volunteer team wants you to join them. We are always keen to welcome new members to use some of their spare time to help with The Alnwick Garden activities. There are a variety of roles to choose from and our enthusiastic, friendly team appreciates all contributions. No matter what you get involved in, our volunteers are vital to the charitable works of The Garden and making sure our visitors get the best-ever day out.
These are just some examples of how you can help:
Visitors appreciate the help of a welcoming and informative host when they enter The Garden.
Pre-arranged groups regularly enjoy a guided tour with a volunteer, who will be able to give them more detail about The Garden and show them aspects which they might otherwise overlook.
You don’t need to be an expert. Even if you don’t have green fingers, you can join our enthusiastic and friendly gardening team to help maintain the various areas of this wonderful garden with the guidance of the full-time gardening staff.
Poison Garden Guiding
Horrible history at its best! As a Poison Garden Guide you will explain the reasons why visitors need by wary of smelling, tasting or even touching various plants within this intriguing section of the garden.
They say, if the kids are happy, the parents are happy and our Budding Artists programme does just that. If you got your Blue Peter Badge or watched endless repeats of Art Attack, you are just the person we are looking for. Oodles of glitter, glue and the compulsory yoghurt pots are provided.
If your soul yearns for a ‘good cup of tea’, we always need help with office administration. You’ll have to fight us for the biscuits though!
The Volunteers are a fully constituted body with an elected Committee and a Chair, who have had an important role in The Garden from the beginning.
